UTM & Campaigns

Track where your conversations come from with UTM parameters and campaign management.

Veloquence agents can be deployed across many surfaces — your website, event pages, email follow-ups, QR codes at conferences, and social posts. UTM campaigns let you track which surface is driving conversations and conversions, so you know where to invest.

Why Track Campaigns

Without UTM parameters, all traffic to your agent looks the same in analytics. A visitor who arrived from a conference QR code and a visitor who clicked a link in your email newsletter are indistinguishable. UTM tracking gives each source its own identity, so you can see which channels are generating the most engagement, the longest conversations, and the most qualified leads.

Setting Up a Campaign

Open the UTM Campaign Builder in your agent's Share tab and fill in the following fields:

  • Source — where the traffic is coming from. Examples: google, newsletter, linkedin, conference
  • Medium — the channel type. Examples: cpc, email, social, qr-code, event
  • Campaign — the specific campaign name. Examples: q3-launch, webinar-july, booth-nab2026
  • Content (optional) — use this to distinguish between multiple links in the same campaign. Examples: banner-top, sidebar, slide-5

The Preview URL updates as you type. Copy it and use it wherever you are sharing the agent link.

Naming Conventions

Consistent naming makes your analytics readable over time. A few rules worth following from the start:

  • Use lowercase and hyphens only. Avoid spaces and uppercase — UTM parameters are case-sensitive and inconsistent casing creates duplicate entries in analytics.
  • Be specific with campaign names. 'email' is not a campaign name. 'q3-outbound-sequence' is.
  • Use medium to describe the channel type, not the specific tool. Use 'email' not 'hubspot'. Use 'social' not 'linkedin'.
  • Document your conventions somewhere your team can reference. A shared doc or Notion page works. Undocumented UTM schemes become unreadable within weeks.

Where to Use UTM Campaigns

Any time you share your agent link outside of a direct embed, add UTM parameters. Common use cases:

  • Email sequences — add UTM parameters to the agent link in follow-up emails so you can see which emails drive the most conversations
  • QR codes at events — generate a QR code with UTM parameters tracking the event name and booth location
  • Conference and webinar follow-up pages — deploy a Present agent on a post-event page with UTM tracking on the share link in follow-up emails
  • Social media posts — track which platform and post format drives the most agent engagement
  • Paid advertising — link directly to your agent with UTM parameters to measure cost per conversation
  • Partner and reseller pages — use UTM source to identify which partner is driving traffic

Reading Campaign Results

Campaign performance appears in two places. The Share Analytics panel at the bottom of the Share tab shows Total Visits, Conversations, and Average Duration for your shared agent. For a full breakdown by campaign source, Campaign attribution is visible in Analytics under Audience — traffic sources and campaign attribution appear there alongside visitor geography and engagement patterns.
